hey bees I'm Murray from humble bee and me and today we are making my lovely creamy clay cleansing balm try saying that 10 times fast if you've been wanting to make your own face wash but you don't want to dive into the wide world of surfactants or soap making cleansing balms are really really awesome and crazy crazy easy way to do that which is why I included cleansing bombs in

the skincare chapter of my book make it up because I didn't want to send you off on a wild goose chase for a bunch of other ingredients the beautiful thing about cleansing balms is that they use ingredients you probably already have if you've ever made a lotion or some body butters or something our cleansing ingredient is almost assigned wax so for this version of this recipe I have used almost fine wax nf you can

also use pull wax or a Mulsim also also known as Reda mulch depending on where you buy it and where you live you can also use bpms 50 but became associate is quite a lot more expensive than those other three emulsifying waxes so I would probably recommend sticking with one of the cheaper ones the way emulsifying wax cleanses is also the way of multiplying wax emulsified emulsifiers are made up of molecules that have

one end that loves water and one end that loves oil and so that is what brings everything together it's our it's our bridge it's our link between the oil part and the water part and so in the cleansing balm kind of world the water part isn't added directly to it like you would in lotions we're not creating an emulsion as part of sort of the final bottles product we are creating an emulsion

as we cleanse so you are using that emulsifier to emulsify with the water that you're washing your face with so you'll rub the balm into some damp skin they'll start to emulsify with the water on your face and it will also pick up all the oil on your skin because of course the life is also like and then when you go to rinse your face off because it will emulsify with the water

you're in same output it'll come away really really cleanly bringing all the SH meg from your face and your day with it and with that very basic little bit of chemistry down this is really just like making a body butter except we're going to stir a bunch of clay into it at the end and then yeah that's about it when you're using this balm you do need to take they're not to get

it wet it will absolutely sprout mold if you start working water into it and because it has an emulsifier in it that water will work its way quite nicely into the bond and stay there and start a bacterial party so make sure you are always scooping this foam out with a dry finger or perhaps like a popsicle stick or a small one of those little cosmetic sampler spatulas just be sure to keep

the balm dry if you don't think you can do that add an oil soluble broad-spectrum preservative like FINA nip to nip bacterial growth in the bud okay let's go make some cleansing balm we'll begin by measuring the ingredients for the base of our cleansing balm into a heat-resistant glass measuring cup so this here is a 250 milliliter Pyrex measuring cup so you'll need 10 grams of a complete emulsifying wax then you'll need 10 grams

of coconut oil 15 grams of castor oil 20 grams of grapeseed oil and you could use a different lightweight oil here something like safflower sunflower oil would be great as well six grams of stearic acid and six drops of vitamin E oil so to melt this through I'm going to put our measuring cup in this salt small saucepan which has about an inch or three centimetres water in the bottom of it and I'm

going to go put this over the stove top on about medium-low heat to let everything melt through and that'll take about 20 minutes about 20 minutes later and as you can see everything is melted through so it's time to start adding our clay I am going to leave this in the water bath though because I want it to stay warm as long as possible and so the hot water bath will help that

happen so we're going for six tablespoons of white kaolin clay once the mixture is smooth you can remove the measuring cup from your water bath set that aside and make sure you dry off the outside of measuring cup because we don't want to accidentally incorporate any water into the cleansing balm because then it can spread mold so now we are ready to add our essential oils so for this one we're doing a

sort of creamsicle type blend so we'll be using a combination of Clementine Peru balsam which smells very vanilla like and Cape snow bush which I find to be bright and really lovely and rather hard to pin down if you don't have Cape snow bush so don't worry about it totally optional so we're going to do ten drops of clementine five drops approve balsam and two drops of Cape snow bush if you have it and

now we're ready to put it in our 10 oh that is a 60 milli or 2 ounce cans all right well I've got a little bit extra so I guess I know how I am washing my face tonight but it's time to just let that set up which will probably take about half an hour since there is a reasonable amount of it and it's actually still quite hot because it sat in

a water bath for so much longer and then it usually would right so it's been about half an hour and this is setup it's cool to the touch and so that's really left to do is cap it and you're pretty much done so let's check the consistency of some of our leftovers here in this version of the cleansing balm I use stearic acid instead of candle Isla wax is what I used in

the original recipe on the blog and the stearic acid makes for a softer creamier final product that has I do find better rinse off but I do know that not everybody has stearic acid around so can Delilah wax is really also very lovely you can see that it is really nice and creamy and if I grab some of the water here leftover from our water bath you can sort of see it

starts to work up into a cream here you can see it starts to emulsify with the water and it gets a little bit cloudy and that's it that's the emulsifiers doing their job and yeah we know this stuff works so there you go that's pretty easy got to be one of the easiest ways to make a DIY facial cleanser so there you go you just made some creamy clay cleansing balm thank you

welcome back everybody for part 2 this is Victor from agave oils agave infused oils just spend two days now since I started the frankincense the boswellia criteria after I started the video well shall I say after I ended the video I did a 16-ounce large jar also what I call royal mix it goes by the name three kings because it contains frankincense myrrh and benzoin those three are classically known

as the three kings mix from millennia and centuries that were very popular for the royalty and the Arabian Peninsula in the Middle East to be used so profiles a lot now for slowly cooling down but again my dad warning you don't want to take me out of a hot pot and onto something cold because you don't want to crack the jars going from direct heat to direct cold especially Grammer granite countertops so finished

product again in every 8 ounces of fluid I use four ounces of resin and here's the royal mix with frankincense myrrh and benzoin eight ounces total of resin in 16 ounces of sweet almond oil is what I use for my carrier and all of them shake it up last time and then we're going to strain each jar into their own new respective jars and then at that point I will mark them datum

cell sa right within them and sit them in a cabinet with the other ones I showed you in part 1 of the video I'll be letting those cure if you will at least a month I know some people cure also still with the with the resin or even the herbs still in the jars for an extended period if you will but after doing 48 hours like these were of even fusing in

the crock pot on low again my low temperature is one hundred twenty five hundred and thirty degrees according to the candy thermometer that we have of course you know I have to heat up some water say about every 12 hours or so and replace it in the crock-pot I try to keep my water level at least where the oil is on the top of the oil so this fits perfectly my crock-pot for

16-ounce jar with both jars in there I get my water level just to the lift this outer glass lip of the eighth ounce so it's sitting in there completely submerged pretty much most of the big one as well first we'll strain so frankincense this is basu Eliot car teary from Somalia these are strictly for home so I'm not using the any nitrile gloves or anything this would be for personal use it's been suggested

by my wife and some friends and whatnot that have smelt the ones I've already completed but I might want to think about selling oh I don't know seems pretty interesting I like doing it definitely fun hoping on my my camouflage shorts in my Angry Bird t-shirt I'm at home relaxing lounge and having fun so as I stated in part one in a video just use the stocking I've done the cheesecloth but then

have to get a rubber band and hold your cheesecloth and all that and it just got to be annoying I'm looking at in here so again I saw this done on another video of herbal infusion I thought it was really a great idea and I've tried it since then and I like it so I'll just keep doing that process so there you have it this is talking on it nothing special particular you

know this is just Annie I don't need a whole for what's a stocking I think I saw some ankle highs to interestingly enough SR bought these so just simple poor on straight not do it start off kind of slow pouring so that most of the oil comes out before the resin really starts getting inside the stocking and blocking the flow so to speak man that smells so good I'll just kind of turn in it

because the resin comes into the stocking obviously they will kind of slow down the flow of the oil so I just turn it keep it steady keep it going this does sounds great you guys don't see that I'm just knocking the rest of the resin down there's quite a bit of oil in here so I will kind of shake it up like that create some pockets if you will get it to flow a little

better certain areas I really like this this time we can see how much is collected so far so click on just under the 8 ounces that I missed we started with know if you can see the number on the door there the eight is right here some about seven so this feels quite a bit of oil tie it up this is a lot of resin just getting some do squeeze and when I try to

capture as much as those 8 ounces as I can't but give back you would tend to be a little short again because the resin is really holding a lot of oil spill so if you want to go save 9 ounces so you end up with 8 ounces afterwards that wouldn't be a bad idea not squeezing too much because then as you can see some of the granules comes through the stocking bones

of my hand and I don't mind some being in the oil I just don't want too much and once I set it down I just pull the stocking off such some of the filler resin in some oil in here now this I just throw this in the trash like this pretty sure as you can recycle so to speak if you want to use that still the resident sure is holding quite a bit

of fragrance and oils and things of that nature it but I just along the way and this smells great put this jar over your own the stink don't really want that to go to waste again the car teary and the sacrum boswellia thakura have their unique sense again to me the car teary has a lot sweeter scent to it if you will and they still have that same bass note between the two

so you definitely know what's frankincense but they're different enough that once you are around them both you can definitely definitely point out the difference between the two so there we have it nice beautiful infused frankincense box juelia's car teary or over you can use these as a daily moisturizer which is what I do out the shower you know full body moisturizer you get to making the frankincense tumor or in this case the royalty mix aka

three teen with frankincense and myrrh and bin join or you make them separately like I showed you the different jars that I have in the first video and you can just mix you know at your preference depending on what sin you like or what your going for it I decided to do this one because I do have them all individually but then I say hey let me just do a big darn

well three again the jars I'm transferring to have already been sterilized in terms of in a pot so I'll pop the rooms in with your water to boil them for a couple minutes put them on a drying rack let them dry thoroughly to all the water evaporates and then spray them with rubbing alcohol and wipe them down with a microfiber cloth depressurizing Ball jars oh man that's not so good and in this one

I actually used regular mer if you will to call me for murder as well as the sweet murder coming forward hope Fionna that's H as in hotel always an Oscar Elvis in Lima ts on tango Z as in Zulu I a n as a November a you know ex-military as the spelling phonetic spelling something so two different murders with actually both frankincense so I have I'm sure God I have the sacred in the

car teary the benzoin regular murder a swimmer in here I would probably say I have more frankincense in here for the two frankincense next biggest ingredient would be the merge but equal to murder and there's only a ounce of the benzoin in here so again using box of stockings from Walmart $5 80 cents normally get 10 pair in here that happen to come with the two extra free if you will bone this box take the

stocking pop it over and the stocking is good too because it gives you some grip some to hold on to so the bottle doesn't slip especially after doing the first jar now my hands aren't as oily because almond oil like the absorbs into your skin really really fast which is another thing I like about it so it doesn't walk around with a greasy field all day or for intended periods if you will at

all just overall good carrier oil so start playing this slowly want to get some oil in there first before the resin starts fall into the mouth of the jar good as you saw once you get their resin into the mouth and just sitting here for then it's going to start slowing down your floor oil and even holding something back so you'll be sitting there holding it longer kind of strain it so just slightly

tilt it take my time no rush hopefully we will capture if not the full 16 then maybe at least fifteen fifteen and a half if the first jar is ending indication then it should be at least fourteen since we got about seven seven and a half five to look at that door again this smells great cool who knows maybe I started at the account or something my wife does a lot of crafts

and things she's just gifted in that area creating dings photography she's just a renaissance woman there's a little bit of it all so who knows maybe I'll do that to start selling some some body oil this smells so good though this mix here benzoin ox is good actually for a lot of skin conditions as well psoriasis eczema things of that nature just like frankincense and myrrh between all three of them there's the antiviral and

then or antibacterial properties in these residents there's a lot information out there you can read up about them franca senses and a lot of studies right now so yo anti psycho toxin in other words kills cancer there's an interesting paper out if you can find it about frankincense that was done by four professors out in Oman from the University out there they have to do with the four different grades so frankincense apparently just for different

grades a frankincense the whole Guri is when most people hear h o j AR i which is like the top grade there's one called shift re sh r th e RI another one called i think it is shabih or save e numbers or the Arabic pronunciation but it's SH a a and B I and then there's another one I can actually think of the name over I don't but the paper was

interesting because these four doctors got together and did a study on all four grades of frankincense and how these greats are actually what they're called in Oman and Yemen that the locals the four different grades of the give them now the bottom grade I believe is the shabi and it's darker is the dark frankincense is not what they call the royal the light green opaque but they were testing the Bostwick acid and the antiviral properties

and antibacterial properties and frankincense and the paper shows all the different bacteria that they tested against like staph aureus which is food poisoning ecoli a bunch of the bacterial bacteria and what they discovered was that the ovary which is the top of the laundry and the fourth or bottom grade which is the shoppi actually were the best to the middle two grades were you know good well with the top grade in the bottom grade

were consistent in terms of keeping the bacteria back or destroying it all together which is interesting because there's a huge difference in the price locally between the top grade hosiery and the bottom grade shabi and by difference in price I'm talking the whole tree technically runs on average about five to six times more expensive than the bottom grade in terms of smell probably burning it on the incense I'm not sure what that is

but for its antibacterial properties they were almost identical so sometimes I guess the the top of the line of the best isn't always technically the best I don't know what you're using it for you Oh benzoin just really rounds out the smell of frankincense and myrrh together it blends so well with them again it has this soft warm vanilla like note to it very very very subtle but it just moves everything out balances very

well all right that one doesn't turn excuse me all right actually had quite a bit of resin come through on my hand squeezing that one but again nothing in the jar now if I wasn't filming I'll be wiping this all over me right now under my shirt on my chest wouldn't let me near that go to waste but that's not this kind of video all right yeah everything is strained out to wash my jars

after I use them like that I actually use gone dish soap because as you know if you've been around long enough you see the commercials and how great Don is at washing crude oil from oil spills off a wildlife it works just as great and washing your jars from those residents and that oil so you know put some down into it fill it up some water I let it sit for about

a day or so just to really break up the oil content and then wash it up so in this Wow so I actually got a little more than 16 ounces here's the 16 here so this batch really pull a lot of that resins a lot of the oils and things out of the resident fuser very well so I ended up with more than I started and this one is just under 8

so I'm happy with that again if you want to get it right at 8 on the finished product I would say do a little more than 8 on how much oil have you put in here so here we have by fluid criteria frankincense and what I call the royal mix or three kings frankincense myrrh and benzoin so we're here are my two infused oils they're going to go great can't wait to

so many people are asking questions about essential oils and let's hear it from you Nadine I'm just going to do a lightning round of essential oils and we'll start off with right here on the list will go with bergamot okay you know what I want to talk about bergamo and first I just want to say generally that all it can get a bit repetitive on its one level because

all essentially oil distillations are antifungal antiviral antibacterial and there's the great blue heron f dumb and they're all of these things from the very like amazing floral rose or lavender to the more what you would know of is antibacterial antifungal like thyme oregano tea tree so I just want to say that that this is broad spectrum of plant metabolites that that exudes their selves from plants and they really offer themselves up for us to

use and in in just hundreds of ways whether it be from skincare to culinary quiz ins two ways to enhance our music immune system to clean the house to diffuse into the atmosphere like the ancients like in the middle of Egypt where they're doing frankincense and myrrh all day long or whether as well the Egyptians would do is they would actually embalm with essential oils they weren't using formaldehyde they were using seed or

cinnamon Cypress to embalm people so I mean there are powerful substances on the plane like when when they pass away they embalm their boss yeah the mummification process yeah so these essences are here too just like to celebrate our relationship with the plant kingdom on the planet and they're totally like they're our friends they help they're just here to enhance every aspect of our life okay bergamo bergamo that's a beautiful distillation it's actually a

citrus it comes from a beautiful distiller that we have in Italy and it's this just really happy citrus they didn't they've done studies that show that it actually totally uplifts and enhances happiness that's great yeah there's all these neat just a side shoot here it's like they're you hear this term molecules of emotion yeah I love that essential oils that when you when you take one whiff it crosses the blood-brain barrier is that the

right yeah it goes right into the limbic system deep and then it goes into the brain and it releases neuropeptides into every cell of the body that's amazing it actually goes right to the core like right to the center of the brain to the hypothalamus is a hypothalamus yeah and I'm and that's what we're all about is finding things that go right to Mission Control which I call is the hypothalamic pituitary so let's

go on to lightning round benzoin benzoin is a sap from a resin beautiful for skincare it's got this like sappy vanilla note this is a great sweet note to add to perfumes and it's a good for really dry cracked skin thank you blood orange light orange always happy you smell it you want to eat oranges it's like the brightest and sunniest of the citruses we use it in our purple chocolate Jesus black

pepper black pepper spicy aphrodisiac from Madagascar it's an organic distillation and it just it's warming and spicy and it can help with muscles it really is a warming spicy oil great blue cypress blue cypress is sometimes hard to get and that's a distillation from the inner bark of the blue cypress tree from Australia and that is quite different than the cypress tree but it has the texture of sandalwood it's it's really quite deeply aromatic

and slightly spicy and reminiscent of sandalwood
